This policy explains how we decide what to recommend and how we keep our content accurate. If anything here isn’t followed on a page, please tell us.
Our standards
- Usefulness first. Every article should help a reader make a decision or understand something important. Length isn’t a goal.
- Accuracy. Specifications come from manufacturer documentation or the product listing, and we record the date we checked. Safety claims are supported by credible sources, which are linked at the end of the article.
- Honesty about methods. Each review states how the product was assessed. Unless an article explicitly says a product was used or tested by a named person, our assessments are research-based: we compare published specifications, manuals, safety certifications, recall history and retailer information. We never invent hands-on testing, personal anecdotes, customer feedback or expert credentials.
- Balance. We explain who a product suits, who should look elsewhere, and the real trade-offs involved. Where a cheaper or simpler option is enough, we say so.
- Safety. We follow current guidance from bodies such as the AAP, CPSC and NHTSA. We don’t recommend products or practices that conflict with that guidance, such as inclined sleepers, crib bumpers or loose bedding for infant sleep, and we don’t recommend recalled products.
How we choose products
When we build a buying guide we start from what parents need (budget, space, vehicle, lifestyle), set out the criteria that matter for that category, and then shortlist products that meet current safety standards and are available from reputable retailers. The criteria are listed at the top of each guide under “How we chose”.
Scores
Some reviews include an editorial score out of 5. A score summarises our research-based assessment against the criteria described in that review. It is not a customer rating and not an average of other people’s reviews. We don’t publish star ratings collected from elsewhere, and we don’t use aggregate rating markup.
Keeping content up to date
Baby products change often. We review commercial articles regularly and whenever we learn of a recall, a discontinued model or a change in guidance. The “Updated” date on each article reflects a meaningful review of its content, not a cosmetic edit. Prices are only shown with the date they were checked, and some retailers don’t allow us to show prices at all.
Restored articles
Some older articles have been restored from our archive after our original hosting was lost. Before a restored article goes back online we check it against current products and guidance, update it where needed, and note its original publication date.
Advertising, affiliates and independence
We may earn a commission when you buy through some links. Commissions never decide which products we recommend or how we rank them, and we don’t accept payment for reviews or placement. Read our affiliate disclosure for details.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we fix it promptly. Send corrections through our contact page.
Not medical advice
Our content is general information to help with buying decisions. It isn’t a substitute for advice from your pediatrician or healthcare provider, or for the instructions supplied with your product.
