Before you buy

  • Measure your car trunk against the folded size. It’s the most common regret.
  • Check your infant car seat. Brand matching saves you buying adapters.
  • Fill in the registration card. It’s how the maker reaches you if there’s ever a recall.

Frequently asked questions

What safety standard does a stroller have to meet in the US?

Strollers made after February 15, 2022 must meet the federal stroller rule (16 CFR part 1227), which adopts ASTM F833-21. It covers brakes, stability, harnesses, folding latches, pinch points and car seat combinations.

How do I check whether a stroller has been recalled?

Search the brand and model on the CPSC recalls site before you buy, especially secondhand. Register a new stroller so the manufacturer can contact you.

Which safety features matter most?

The AAP suggests easy-to-use brakes (ideally locking two wheels), a five-point harness used on every ride, and a wide base that resists tipping. Don’t hang bags from the handlebar; the weight can tip the stroller backward.

Can I take my newborn jogging?

Not in the stroller seat. BOB says to use the Wayfinder only with an infant car seat until your baby has good head and neck control, and not to jog until then. Ask your pediatrician when your baby is ready.
