For a play yard that will spend most of its time at home or at a relative’s house, the Graco Pack ’n Play On the Go in Kaden gives you a raised infant bassinet in the box. For a crib you expect to carry between a car, an airport and a hotel, the Guava Lotus packs into a backpack. The trade-off is that the Lotus sits at floor level in the linked configuration and takes up more floor space when open.
Check the carry from the car to the room
Guava lists a packed size of 24 × 12 × 8 inches and a weight of 15 pounds including the bag. The backpack straps leave your hands available for other luggage. Check your airline’s rules before planning to carry it on. If you rarely go farther than a driveway or a guest room, the Graco’s included carry bag may be all you need. Graco lists its Kaden play yard at about 21.4 pounds. Graco reports product weight, while Guava explicitly includes the carry bag.
The lighter crib has the larger open footprint. Guava lists about 45.5 × 31.5 inches when set up, compared with 39.5 × 28.25 inches for the Graco. If the crib needs to fit between a hotel bed and the wall, measure that gap before you choose. Leave room for the route to the door and for the side of the crib where you’ll stand.
Decide whether you need a raised bassinet
Graco’s included bassinet folds with the frame. The Graco manual says to stop using that insert when your baby begins to push up on hands and knees or goes over 15 pounds, whichever comes first. The Lotus offer is for the travel crib. Its mattress rests at floor level and the raised bassinet is a separate purchase. Compare the complete configurations you’d actually take on a trip, especially if the raised surface is why you’re shopping.
What independent reviewers noticed
In separate Graco and Lotus reviews dated October 3, 2017, BabyGearLab’s Wendy Schmitz found the Graco sample bulkier to carry and appreciated being able to wear the Lotus bag as a backpack. Those are observations about the units tested in 2017. We used current manufacturer documentation for the two linked configurations, their dimensions and what comes in the box.
Which setup fits your trips?
If you can leave a play yard at your destination or usually travel by car, start with the Graco Kaden. Its smaller open footprint and included bassinet are useful if space is tight and you expect to use the raised setup. If you regularly carry the whole crib between stops, start with the Lotus and measure the room where it will go. See our Guava Lotus vs BabyBjörn comparison for another travel option, or our crib, bassinet and play yard guide if you’re still choosing a format.
How we researched this comparison. This is a research-based comparison. Fresh Baby Gear has not tested these products hands-on. We checked the US listings against manufacturer information, read the original independent reviews and searched CPSC recall records on November 8, 2026. We found no matching notice for either exact configuration. The notices for inclined sleeper accessories sold with specified Graco play yards and Guava Roam strollers cover other products. If you’re buying used, check the label and model number and use the instructions for that unit.
